2009 is the 26th anniversary of the La Grange/Western Springs CROP Walk. Since 1984 about 20 local churches have gotten together to raise funds for CWS (Church World Services) by forming teams and walking through our neighborhoods to spread the CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) message.
In October 2008, 274 people walked over 3 miles and raised $31,260 to support 6 local food pantries and the CWS worldwide mission. Thank you for your generous support and your generous spirit!
The planning commitee decided that we want to make our 26th anniversary walk on October 18, 2009 the best year ever! To do that, we need to raise $35,000 and have 300 people walking with us. This year our efforts will continue to support our six neighborhood food pantries and allow CWS to fill the need for housing in New Orleans four years after Katrina and help people in northwest Pakistan displaced by fighting between the Taliban insurgents and the Pakistan military.
Do you want to help us? There are so many things you can do:
- Join a team or put together a team and walk with us on Oct 18.
- Sponsor a walker
- Be a sponsor of the 26th anniversary walk event.
- Come out to the route on October 18 and cheer on the walkers.
